about

Barou - In Fulani culture, both men and women are expected to exhibit elegance. At the annual festival celebrating the return of herds after transhumance, young shepherds have a chance to showcase their elegance and skills, including posture, attire, gait, and the ability to dance and handle their shepherd's crook. The song "Barou" is inspired by this festival and represents an invitation for young shepherds to take pride in their accomplishments and pursue glory, recognizing that the success of their herds is their primary means of achieving financial security and upward mobility.
